Life Coaching

What is Life Coaching?

Life Coaching is professional assistance for a person who recognizes a need or desire for a positive life change. Life Coaching is most often utilized when a person (the “client”) has identified some aspect or aspects of their life that no longer “feel” right or serve them well. The Life Coach offers their skills to help clarify the desired change and then will explore with the client appropriate goals and strategies to allow for the transformation to occur. Life Coaching is also effectively a tool for change with a group or company experiencing growing pains.

Clearpath Life Coaching is based on the belief that the solution to a person’s challenge is found within the person. Often, though, a person needs the assistance of an outside perspective to help pinpoint the challenge and find a pathway through. The Life Coach, who is trained to listen well and reflect what is heard, shares in the search for a solution with the client.

How Do I Know if Life Coaching Is For Me?

Do any of the following questions ring true for you:

  • Are you seeking new options for life? career?

  • Do you want more out of your job? relationships?

  • Have you desired a more meaningful purpose to your life?

  • Would you like to have more energy for your life?

  • Is your life too “full” or are you “stuck” in ineffective coping methods?

These questions are often indicators that Life Coaching may be the right method of change for you.

How Does Life Coaching Work?

Every positive change in life begins with the awareness that something is missing or incomplete. Or, perhaps the awareness is there but the helping techniques tried just haven’t had a lasting effect. Either way, you know you are ready for change in your life. After a brief discussion about your situation, you and the Coach will determine if Life Coaching is the best option. You both commit to working for a number of sessions (normally once a week for one to three months). The sessions take place either in person or on the telephone. During these 45-60 minute sessions the Coach listens carefully, asks clarifying questions, reflects back what is heard and explores positive tools for desired change. During the week, in between sessions, you will have the option to explore what has been discussed in the session. This “homework” helps to reinforce the ideas brought up in Life Coaching sessions.

Life Coaching is NOT:

clinical therapy, psychiatric counseling or medical advisement. It does not dwell on circumstances of the client’s past. It does not teach specific health, nutrition or exercise regimens. If the need for any of these arises, the Coach may suggest appropriate professional assistance.

Comments from coaching clients:

“Jim’s coaching helped me to realize that I could reach higher.  Before ClearPath, I accepted the shortcomings of my job, feeling powerless to change things.  Jim helped me work into a new job. Now I feel I have moved from a ‘job’ to a ‘career.’”  - J.H., Canandaigua, NY

“ClearPath coaching let me process my ideas with someone neutral and then explored with me ideas I had not considered. Change is always hard for me, but Jim helped me not be overwhelmed about trying to make new changes.”  - L.W., Fulton, NY

“It's amazing how much knowing that I asked for help, already helps! Instead of thinking ‘Man, oh man, what am I gonna do?’, I started thinking about what I actually was going to do.”  - S.V., Mexico, NY

“With his gentle, yet masterful manner, Jim helped me to unravel all the aspects of my dilemma, giving me perspective to see it clearly, and empowering me to make the changes that were necessary in order for me to reach a solution. I recommend ClearPath to all who are ‘stuck between a rock and a hard place!’”  -H. B., Manlius, NY
